Less than three weeks to go until Learn to Play Day 2018: The annual event with more than ten thousand FREE taster musical instrument lessons, available to everyone nationwide. On the 17th and 18th March 2018 music shops, venues, schools, teachers and many more will be working hard to ensure this is the biggest celebration of learning to play a musical instrument – ever.
Both music store chains Musicroom and PMT are big supporters of Learn to Play Day and 2018 is no exception. At Musicroom Salisbury there will be guitar lessons, in Stratford guitar and piano lessons and in Edinburgh visitors can ‘Join Our Band’ and learn how to play together. Meanwhile over in Nottingham Musicroom will be offering woodwind lessons and guitar maintenance tips, in Exeter, guitar and drum lessons, and in Lincoln keyboard and ukulele lessons. Whilst in York, Chris Stanbury from Casio will be offering one to one training, lessons and tips.
PMT have partnered with Rocksteady Music School to deliver an exciting array of activities in their stores for Learn to Play Day. Highlights include unforgettable drum lessons with Pete Salisbury (The Charlatans, The Verve), Mike Heaton (Embrace) and Donald Johnson (A Certain Ratio) at PMT Manchester, and DJ’ing and mixing workshops at PMT London. Rocksteady tutors will be in PMT store in Birmingham, Bristol, Northampton, Nottingham, Oxford, Portsmouth and Southend. Other stores will have favourite local tutors offering a variety of instrument and vocal lessons as well as instrument manufacturer representatives. A few more of this year’s exciting events to look out for are: A drop-in event being held by Skipton Community Orchestra where all are welcome to an open rehearsal and free taster lessons on a range of instruments. Vale Pianos will be making music with a giant keyboard along with lots of other activities. Interflux band members Ben Saunders & Conor Page will be at Music Bunker helping with their FREE musical instrument taster lessons. Millers Music is putting on the biggest music lesson in Cambridge with their Harmonica Playathon. Visitors to From The Harp will be able to get some heartwarming good vibrations when they have a go at playing. KORG & The Stables are offering opportunities to play the keyboards, drums & guitars, plus, learn some music production skills on a range of synthesizers and groove boxes. Whilst at Dawkes Music people can find out how to be a sax superstar or learn to play some clarinet classics. Drop into Forsyths for FREE music taster lessons where participants can pick up a free goodie bag or River Studios to enjoy a fun packed, free open day with FREE taster music lessons in singing, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele and much, much more! There will also be bands, a choir and other musicians performing, hot drinks and Pop Party sessions for the kids. Plus Croydon Guitar Tuition are inviting people to get happy by joining them for FREE guitar lessons and to meet the local mayor.
