Barnsley /Sheffield rock stalwarts Seventh Son have just released a brand new single called ‘See Emily Play’. It’s a cover of the old Syd Barrett track as made famous by Pink Floyd! It’s taken from their forthcoming new album to be released in 2017.
Seventh Son have been around since their formation way back in 1980 by brothers Brian and Kevin O’Shaughnessy, part of the heavily influential NWOBHM which quite literally means New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and when you have acts like Metallica stating that you are their early influence well they must have been doing something right.
Now just a couple of decades later and the veterans are back kicking and screaming and with all guns blazing because these boys have not lost an ounce of passion for giving fans an absolute mind bending experience whether it be live or on an L.p these guys have just matured, but still rock the good old fashioned way as their new single ‘See Emily Play’ the track was penned by the late great Syd Barret and was made famous by legends Pink Floyd,
Seventh Son have taken the track and turned it into their own while maintaining the sixties groovy psychedelic feel and adding their own metal infused drums and bass, with some great riffs and a solo straight out of the top drawer, with vocals that send you back and forth as you sway from the sixties to the present, one thing is certain if this track is anything to go by then Seventh Son’s new album is going to be a cracker, certainly one to look out for in 2017.
