Following their anthemic new single and video Nothing In Your Way last month, UK rockers The Magic Es have announced a run of live dates for May and June including headline shows in London, Leicester, Newcastle and Norwich.
The band will play the following shows –
23/5 – London, New Cross Inn
24/5 – Keighley, The Exchange
25/5 – Scunthorpe, Lincoln Imp
26/5 – Leicester, The Vault
31/5 – Addlestone, The Cave At The Holly Tree
1/6 – Gillingham, The Rock Avenue Club
2/6 – Warrington, Old Town House
3/6 – Newcastle, Trillian’s Rock Bar
29/6 – Norwich, Waterfront.
Hot on the heels of the trio’s debut album It Goes On last year, Nothing In Your Way adds a slow burning intensity to their guitar-propelled indie-rock songwriting.
“It was written for a friend who was going through some tough times – it was the easiest way I could say “I’m here for you and so are all your mates…we’ll help you get through this”, explains frontman Pete Thompson. “I recorded it as a demo about 7 or 8 years ago, and last year I re-discovered the original recording; I started jamming the riff during rehearsals and pretty quickly we’d fashioned it into a new Magic Es song. We thought it would be make a good ‘comeback’ single after the album last year.”
Since forming in 2014, The Magic Es have been busy. All lifelong musicians with world tours, top 40 singles and a wealth of musical experience under their belts, the boys came together after a chance meeting at a wedding led to them finding common ground in the simple pleasures of classic records. Fittingly for a band steeped in 60’s pop and classic rock, they’ve adopted a similar work ethic to their musical heroes – releasing a string of singles and a debut album in the last two years, and picking up press acclaim from Paste Magazine, XS Noize, Songwriting Magazine, BBC Radio and many more in the process.
